Dominican Transportation
In our efforts to sample anoles from across the Dominican Republic we've been doing lots of driving. While on the road we've been constantly entertained by the things Dominicans manage to move around on motorcycles. The photos above are only a small sampling of what we've seen: eggs, cases of beer, a steel gate, and five (!) people. Believe it or not, this was the first of three five-tops we've seen. Remarkabely, that's not even the record -- a few years ago I spotted seven-top that included three adults and four children.

Very interesting! I've seen stream anoles in Puerto Rico; apparently, they'll catch freshwater shrimp as they're being thrown back into the water by researchers doing population counts.
On that note, have you come across any river prawns (camarón/langosta/langostino de río)? I'm a high school student in the process of doing some phylogenetic work with Macrobrachium carcinus, which I know is found in the DR.
My favorite sight of this trip so far was the two people on the motorbike, one carrying a large (2' x 5'?) piece of glass. I don't have a photo of that, though.
