One More Reason to Post Free PDFs of Your Pubs

My effort to use this weekend to catch up on the latest research in journals like Molecular Ecology, Ethology, Biological Journal of the Linnean Society has been greeted with endless frustration. The incompetent blood-suckers at Wiley-Blackwell have decided to take all of their journals off-line for two days. Un-fucking-believable. Seriously people, let's take science back: get out there and post all your publications as free PDFs. Maybe that way people will be able to actually read them.

In the future I'm going to publish all of my papers via blog posts and BitTorrent. The really good stuff I'll just post on Wikipedia.

This is a problem, but it is hard to get cheesed off at a publisher whose website is down for a couple of days. One could always go to the campus library and photocopy the journal.

I guess Glor is upset that the Cubs, despite a four game loss, still dominate the NL Central.

My science isn't constrained by my physical location or library hours! I know that Tom appreciates freedom from unnecessary constraint; after all, his loyalty to the Cubs shifts to the White Sox whenever it looks like they have a better chance to win the series.

These ass-holes still don't have their shit together. "We apologise for the interruptions in service to the Wiley InterScience website over the past 24 hours. As we continue to make refinements to our new service, we have identified and fixed a problem that had caused the website to go down between 16:25 and 17:30 BST Tuesday. However, two local power failures at our Data Centre caused all Wiley websites to go down between 21:15 and midnight BST and between 05:00 and 0800 BST. We apologise for the loss of access over these time periods."
